Dear Bank of America,


When you discovered that I had fraudulent charges on my checking account, I must admit that you contacted me.  I hadn’t noticed YET.  I say yet because I do check over my statements.  At any rate, you were proactive and you contacted me and there were two charges.


One was immediately credited back and the other one had to go through some dog and pony show.


Meanwhile I had my new checking account and all was well and good, or so I thought.


Earlier this month I received a bank statement from you guys saying that I had finally received my $488.82 back.  You put it back in my “old” account. The thing is, you guys charged me a $25 fee for not having enough money in my account so I got a service charge.


Seriously?  This account was closed to you guys reopened it to deposit this money and then you charge me for having a low balance?


Well, I stayed calm and called the 800-number that was on the statement and after a hold time of 10 minutes I spoke to an actual human being.  This human being agreed to give me my $25 back BUT explained that she would have to transfer me to another person to actually close my already closed (in my mind) account.


So she transferred me and lo and behold, I was on hold AGAIN.  This time was about 15-20 minutes.  I waited and waited and waited and finally, someone picks up.  I could hear background noise and people talking and I’m was saying “hello? Hello? HELLO?” and I was disconnected.


Yup just like that. Gone. Done. Over. Disconnected.


Fuck this I thought, but then I realized that next month you asses would again charge me $25 for the stupid service fee so I decided to try online chat. I got online and the chat people said “they’re behind” and it’ll be “three minutes” and I wait 10 minutes and a person gets on.


Guess what? GUESS WHAT??? They can’t close accounts over chat so they tell me that I have to call an 800-number. That’s right, again!!


I was pissed but I decided to do it and this time the hold wasn’t too bad because the number they gave me was a “premium” number.  Finally I got a hold of a nice person who transferred the $488.82 and closed the account down (hopefully).


Total time taken to do all this???? Over an hour.  I have to say that’s ridiculous and from a customer service aspect I’d give you guys a D and that’s only because the last person was pretty nice.


You need to reexamine your way of helping people out because that’s way, way too much time to close an already-closed account.


You owe me my time back.

    I had to get all ghetto with Macy’s today ~ I was charged a $2.00 fee on an account I had paid in full. No, the two bucks wasn’t going to break me, but I was LIVID.

    Send this… with a bill for your time spend unnecessarily spent on the phone.
    You never know… you might get a nice letter and a gift card. MIGHT… Probably not.

    Banks are an unmitigated pain in the ass. It’s stupid to keep your money in your mattress, but I totally understand why people do.
