Go ahead, amuse me Tim

Today’s guest on Go ahead, amuse me is Tim Fox and here’s what he had to say about himself:

Hi I’m Tim Fox from San Diego CA. You may know me as the guy that sells t-shirts but if you don’t here are some fun facts. I’m 31, my favorite color is blue, and I have zero platinum albums in Estonia. I also have a blog over at http://www.SogeShirts.blogspot.com The old posts are the ones to check out.

Being honest about the Family Tree

When looking at one’s family tree people just want to showcase the strong branches or the golden leaves. But sometimes in family trees we all have to admit that a few nuts fall down. It’s time to examine a family tree from top to bottom and give props to your family members who are good, bad, or crazy.

Tracing the family tree in genealogy is a very cool thing to do. With sites like Ancestry.com and others you are now able to trace back your family history generation after generation. Need to know where that odd cousin with the lip tattoo come from? Now you can. What I find funny though is that in those commercials the people that are tracing back their ancestors are always finding the best possible people in their family to feel proud and that is great. All I’m asking is to balance it out.

How about finding out that your great great aunt turned tricks for nickels and a Charlie Chaplin silent movie feature ticket? How about letting everyone know that your grandfather was a circus clown, your aunt a tight rope walker, and that you were related to losing Southern General Robert E. Lee? Oh wait the circus stuff and Robert E Lee relation is my family. Nothing wrong with that my family is awesome. I may not have been related to anyone who washed Shakespear’s undergarments, but hey not many people can say they are related to someone who was getting hit by cream pies while swaying back on forth on tables and chairs 40 feet high.

So take that high and mighty Ancestry sites. I’m going to list everyone in my family. The doctors, the vagrants, and the third cousin who sells his clean urine to his fellow local pizza joint employees so that they can pass the drug test. It’s all about being proud of everyone and telling the whole story of your family tree all the way down to the smallest of branches. As an amateur genealogist it’s all I can do. Now you have to excuse me my great great aunt is telling me how good that Chaplin silent picture was.

Go ahead, amuse me is a weekly posting I will be having featuring another funny blogger.  Or maybe not a blogger … you could just be a funny person.  So, if you would like to be featured all you have to do is email me at allfookedup@gmail.com and send me a funny post.  If I AGREE that it’s funny, I’ll simply put up your post with a short intro that you write so that my readers will check out your blog.  Of course, you also need to put up a link to my blog saying that you’re being featured over here.

See? WIN-WIN … hope to hear from you … or not!

I think when you shake my family tree, after the nuts fall down, there aren’t many branches or leaves left.

I once found out my family was kicked out of France. Kicked out.

I’m still scared to go there.
