In which he needs his Wisdom Teeth out

roadtrip

The other day I wrote a post about painting, my painting specifically.  I decided that I definitely want to continue painting (well, I wouldn’t say continue as I’ve barely been doing it) and of course, my dilemma was what to do with all the paintings (they’re large.)

I had a number of suggestions, which included:

Submit them to a gallery but be tough and expect rejection

Put them in a retirement home or an center of sorts (good idea)

Start an Etsy site (I’m not really familiar with Etsy)

Other ideas include:

Give them away to friends

Put them in restaurants

These are all good suggestions and I’m going to attempt to figure this out after I finish all my traveling.  What traveling you say?  Well, even as we speak I’m in Vermont. (Well, I’m writing this post on Tuesday and I’m planning on being in Vermont on Friday and I’m planning on posting this on Friday so if that’s NOT the case then something is extremely fucked up.)

After that trip, I’m taking Daniel to Los Angeles for his spring break.  The reason is that Keely has her first appointment with her new doctor at UCLA and I really wanted to be there for that appointment.  Keely has a tendency to be a bit “dismissive” about all her medical stuff and I want to give the doctor a clear picture on what’s gone on.  I feel like the “history” appointment is quite important.

Beyond that, I’m pretty sure she has a stress fracture in her foot (this would be the third time) and her hip is killing her.  None of this is good news and all of it makes me unhappy.  It’s not all that easy to explain to a 23 year old that her “body” is more important that any task and/or job that she may be doing.   My goal is to find out if it’s possible that she’s damaging anything or if she’s just sore.  There’s a massive difference.

Also, Daniel misses Keely and he wasn’t doing anything for his first spring break so I thought we’d go out there.  He was planning on getting his wisdom teeth out, which was actually a pretty funny conversation.  Here’s what happened:

Daniel was talking to Keely right before she left:

Daniel:                        yeah, I’m getting my wisdom teeth out at spring break

Keely:                         you are?

Daniel:                        yeah, they’ve come through

Keely (to me):           mom, did you know Daniel’s getting his wisdom teeth out?

Me:                              what?

Keely:                         yeah, at spring break

Me:                              I have no idea what you’re talking about.  Let me speak to him

Me (to Daniel):          what’s all this about?

Daniel:                        I need my wisdom teeth out

Me:                              since when?

Daniel:                        I told you at Christmas I needed to see the Dentist

(It’s true.  ON the very last day of Christmas break after 5 weeks at home Daniel informed me he needed to see the dentist.  THE VERY LAST DAY)

Me:                              you did tell me but you didn’t mention your wisdom teeth

Daniel:                        I need them out

Me:                              how do you know?

Daniel:                        I can feel them.

Me:                              the dentist doesn’t take out wisdom teeth

Daniel:                        well…

Me:                              I need to set you up a dentist appointment and then if they agree with you they’ll refer you to the other dentist

Daniel:                        well do that then mom

So I am doing that over spring break and the next day we’re flying to see Keely.  When asked when his teeth could come out I told him that he could have them out the week before summer school.

Kids.  They never stop driving you nuts do they?

And if they aren’t hurting him or affecting his bite, odds are he can keep them. Have fun in Vermont. Don’t freeze your arse off.

Love Vermont (but I’ve never been there…that’s where I obtain mail order maple syrup). The crappy weather that was in Illinois yesterday should meet you there tomorrow.

Aw. I remember getting my wisdom teeth out. I think I watched ‘Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion’ about ten times when I was healing and on pain medication.
