In which i share my artwork

Ok there people.  This isn’t really much of a post but I did get a fair number of people asking to see what in the world I was painting.  First, let me put a disclaimer out there:

DISCLAIMER:  I AM SELF-TAUGHT … keep your expectations low

I paint in oils and it’s all abstract.  For me, it’s all about color and form.  People are always asking me “what were you thinking?” or “what is it supposed to be?” and I can honestly say that I don’t operate that way.  Although Kevin tries to make “sense” out of what’s on the canvas, for me there is no method to the madness.  Most of these canvases range from 30×40 inches to 4×6 feet.

Here we go!

So there you are!  That’s the stuff I’m currently working on or have completed.  As I said, these photos were just taken with an iPhone so you can’t really tell what they really look like but that’s what I’m up to.

Also, I have a Guest Post up over at By Word of Mouth Howlerific Halloween. Go check it out!!!

See ya!

    SHUT UP! SHUT UP!!

These are AWESOME! Lynn, seriously you need to put these in a gallery. I really like #7 the second from the bottom (red 4×6). The color is amazing…and #4 also (the featured image)…I’m drawn to these colors….

    Beautiful. Powerful. Emotional.
    Great stuff.

I was going to post and tell you which one was my favorite but I just can’t choose. I love them! What kind of paint do you use? I’ve been bitten by the painting bug lately but I have no idea how to get started.

Oil…I used acrylic to learn. Take some courses at a local art center. I’m self taught by reading and experimenting.

OK, so, #1 is a penis, right? It totally is… with 2 nicely formed testicles.

DISCLAIMER: I went to art school – therefore everything is phallic.

In all seriousness though, I completely love #3. Movement, composition, color – it’s fabulous ;)

But you must think something, right?

I mean, there must be some feeling behind your work…I think there has to be.

But, then, I’ve never attempted art work, I can’t even sign my own name the same way twice.

I do love the energy, but I’d love to hear more about what you feel when you work.

    Thanks for showing us, Lynn.

It’s nice to get to know you.

hmmm…i just start putting color down and i just keep painting until i like what i have. I set it aside and work on it for weeks therefore i have more than one going at a time. I mostly look at color and shape and don’t try to make anything.

I actually keep painting until the picture seems done and i don’t hate it anymore. Some of the paintings have tons of layers and some are right the first time. They’re very hands on and i don’t use a brush all the time, sometimes i paint with a rag so….

that’s kind of it. Thanks for the comment…i’m really kind of a loner and this is my creative side which doesn’t come out in public so much :)

I love them!! You are really good!! I love #4 – love the purple. And #5 looks like a forest fire, so cool. They’re all super cool and diverse… Good job finding that creative outlet and sticking with it! Lol I keep trying different things to be creative but i never seem to stick with any of them. :-/ So now I have piles of different types of supplies in my closets untouched for months. Lol Anyway, awesome job!! And yes, your beautiful art should be in a gallery!

This art is bullshit, there is nothing unique about this work. You might as well just take a black and white photograph of a leaf on your iPhone and sell that trash. These works are complete garbage which you should not be proud of.

These are great- you have mastered the art of painting the color of the form not the form itself and so therefore you get a sense of both (the mood, temperature, and volume all shine through!) Kepp it up- look at Albers “Interaction of Color” !

    • Lynn
      October 24, 2011

I’m trying to figure out if I want to try to actually sell them? Or what? Now I need to go see which one you’re talking about, some are hanging in my house.

Nice work, Lynn! I just love #5 and wish I could see the brushstrokes. It has a lot of energy and passion and intensity. I also really like #3 and #8. If you ever take higher res photos, I’d enjoy seeing the work up close. Well done and I’m amazed that you are so brave to show your work. *claps*

    • Lynn
      October 24, 2011

5 is in the entry hall of my house. There aren’t that many brush strokes because I blend a lot together with rags, also I painted that picture vertically and then we rotated it. It’s actually part of a set. 8 is one of my favorite paintings. It’s not hanging anywhere. It’s upstairs in the room I paint in.

I showed them because who cares if everyone hates them. I figure it’s only important that I like them. Kevin doesn’t like all my stuff…he likes realistic images, to each his own, eh?

      Thanks for the comment…

    Dear Mike
Good to see that you are so proud of the words that you say.
And so ready to stand behind them – that you couldn’t even leave a link back to who you really are.
I notice that a few people commented that there is a certain sexual look to a few … thought you may have appreciated them more considering you are clearly such a dick!

I think these are quite awesome. My very good friend does Poured paintings, which are generally quite large. I have 2 she gave me. Mike can go fuck himself, since clearly he is the only one who would! What an immature ASS! Keep on keepin’ on and share again in the future so we can see what new coolness you have going on!
