In which i shoot a bazooka

I feel like I’ve watched NOTHING but violence this weekend.  It wasn’t intentional and I didn’t start out that way, it just sort of happened.  Friday night, Daniel decided he wasn’t going out so Kevin, Daniel and I decided to watch “Warrior” on TV on Demand.

Basically, it’s about MMA (which is Mixed Martial arts) and when I tell you the people beat the ever-loving shit out of each other it’s quite an understatement.  I mean these people literally beat the HELL out of each other.  I like watching action movies but I really can’t even watch boxing because every time somebody gets hit I wince and feel like I’m in pain.

However, the premise and plot were great and I enjoyed the movie.  Mostly what I realized was that I could NEVER EVER see one of these cage fights in person and that I’m nowhere near as tough as I need to be.

The next day was Saturday and Kevin and I were going to a movie.  It came down to Contraband or Haywire and the timing on Haywire was better so we went to that.  Well, the premise of Haywire is that they’re trying to kill this woman who is a very proficient killer and fighter and trained in, what else, Martial Arts.  This woman basically beat the shit out of anybody who tried to kill her.

It was at this point that I realized that all my post-apocalyptic training was going to come to naught since I’m way, way too old to be fighting like these people.  Now I’m kind of sad realizing what a hole I have in my skill set.  Or at least my imaginary skill set.

I did decide, after watching the preview for Acts of Valor, which I can’t WAIT to see, that I totally want to blow something up with a Bazooka.

I think this is going to be harder to accomplish than my desire to shoot a crossbow, which I did for my 52nd birthday (see here) but I asked Kevin if he could do that for my next birthday.  When I came home and told Daniel about it he told me “everybody wants to blow something up with a bazooka!”  Is that true?  Because I’m guessing that EVERYBODY doesn’t feel that way.

Nonetheless, I don’t think Kevin will be able to pull this one off.  I’m guessing that the military doesn’t want regular people walking around blowing shit up.  At any rate, Acts of Valor is about REAL Navy SEAL’s rescuing people and blowing up anyone and anything that gets in their way.  I was raised on war movies and I really can never get enough of them.  I’m not sure what that says about me because I’m really not a very violent person.

Today is Sunday and the only thing we’ll be watching is Football.  I will say that if the Patriots lose than I’m sure there WILL be some violence around here because Kevin and Daniel will be busy pouting and being grouchy and I might have to kill them.  Fortunately, I’ve Googled “how to rip a heart out of a chest” and I can just kill them in one clean swoop!  Well, maybe not so clean I suppose.  Wow, I guess I really have seen to much violence.

See ya!!

Well actually, football is also a good and exciting sport to watch together with the whole family, as well as the basketball…

I shot a .44 magnum which is a bazooka of a handgun. That might work for you. Or you could go for an AK-47. My friend shot one of those last time we were in Texas. I don’t know if you can shoot an actual bazooka. But if you really want to blow something up, I have friends that go in to the desert and blow stuff up all the time, just not with an actual bazooka. God dammit, now I want to shoot a bazooka!

No, I’ve never been the bazooka-blow-up type. I’m afraid of loud things. The cross-bow sounds awesome, but the link didn’t appear to take?

*snicker* I’m actually feeling a bit of guilt at drooling while reading your post… I didn’t think I was addicted to violence previously, but there’s something altogether delicious about bazookas! (Perhaps the childhood connection to bubblegum?) A few of the employees at my work were recently treated to a tour of one of our government contracts on a military installation. Very hush-hush and super secret (clearly, there are holes in our background screening as I was on said invite list)… at one point, we toured a massive ammunitions bunker or whatever the proper terminology is, and the most unassuming darling little lady of the group suddenly burst out with shouts of “WAIT A MINUTE! I ONLY CAME BECAUSE IT WAS PROMISED THAT WE COULD ACTUALLY HANDLE THE BIG GUNS!!!!” We’re all a bit more careful around dear Gladys now :) As for MMA… the germiphobe in me has a tough time coping with writhing around on a blood-soaked mat. Won’t someone think of the children!?!?!? xo

Hahahaha…won’t someone think of the children? Too funny

Man, I really want to get a bazooka now…and yes, I do love Bazooka bubblegum!!!

*giggles* Seems to me, given my current (and as previously determined, unscrutinized) position, I should have no trouble in procuring a bazooka or two for our totally “innocent” facination-driven entertainment, yes? And if loving the idea of all of this is grounds for termination, I don’t wanna be right :D……..Mmmmmmmm bubblegum…….

“I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass… and I’m all out of bubblegum.”

What!? Really??? Do you think they’d let me in given I apparently can’t spell “fascination”? :D And only $200?…. that’s highway robbery! BUT! In our favor! Count me in!

            • Lynn
              January 24, 2012

Yes really!! Of course, getting to Cambodia could cost some bucks. Also, drugs are much cheaper so possibly we should just drop acid and imagine the shooting of a bazooka.

Hmmm…. I’m not opposed to this idea… in fact, color me intrigued! I love how the lesson in all of this amounts to drugs being cheaper than violence :D

I am totally going to have to write a blog post about the pros and cons of drugs versus violence. Too funnY!!! Not to worry…i will reference you (not like i have a huge audience but still…)
