In which i sum up Mom 2.0 Summit

This past weekend I was down in Miami for Mom 2.0 Summit.  Having never been to this conference I didn’t know what to expect.  I had a great time with my friends, made new friends and have made a wrap-up of the conference so here goes.

Things I liked about Mom 2.0 Summit

It was in Miami

Did I mention it was in Miami?

Not just Miami but Miami Beach.

Yeah, at the Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne.

I didn’t have to catch a cab from the airport because …

Nicole Morgan picked me up at the airport…

To take me to Key Biscayne…

But we didn’t actually end up in Key Biscayne…

We ended up in South Beach…

By accident…

Because she doesn’t have a Nav system…

Nor does she know how to navigate…

But not to worry!

I had Google maps … double true!

So we made it to Key Biscayne…

THE Ritz Carlton … did I mention that?

Then we had a drink WHICH WAS MANDATORY

I met some people …

A lot of people…

People like Shelly Kramer, The Time Dog guys, Missy Mayer, Lisa Belkin, Marinka and some other chicks too!

Actually too many chicks to name…

I liked most of them …

Except for the annoying ones …

The French-fries at the pool bar were excellent…

I had them more than once…

Hanging out by the pool was nice …

Especially with a drink in my hand …

The panel on metrics was interesting …

We went to the Versace Mansion …

It was beyond tacky …

I’m redecorating my house to match it …

My husband is less than thrilled …

We had this lunatic cab driver on the way back from South Beach that tried to convert us and then explained he saw dead people …

Actually he said he saw “dead Indians”

I doubted the veracity of that …

I told him that was “politically incorrect”

He said it was true though …

He said they were wearing fur skins …

Wow…that autocorrected to foreskins …

I fixed it! Just chill!

“In South Florida?” I said. (About the fur skins … not foreskins)

The taxi driver wasn’t amused at my lack of sympathy …

He explained that he was scared of ghosts …

Especially since they turn into goats if you hit them …

Baby goats no less …

We were dubious … just ask Marinka or Shelly Kramer or Nicole

He saw it on Animal Planet he said

It must be true then.  What do I know?

We couldn’t figure out if you hit them with a car or hit them in the nose …

We discussed it over drinks …

We had more than a few drinks …

Quit judging …

The drag queen in South Beach was excellent …I learned some new moves

Hearing Marinka make the funniest one liner comment of the weekend…IN PERSON was a highlight of my trip

I can’t repeat it … just because.

Meeting someone who had actually read my blog that I had never met and wasn’t related to me was exciting

Finding out that I was a twitter stalker was surprising but kinda awesome too

Things I didn’t like about Mom 2.0 summit

To The arrogant prick from Dove Soap who was a douche to me at the Versace party. Just because I’m older doesn’t mean that you can walk away from me mid sentence. I like to be clean too asshole.

It’s true … I still take showers

So does my husband …

Whatever …

No one puts baby in the corner …

That had nothing to do with anything but seemed appropriate as a segue …

The closing keynote address was too long and completely lacked focus.

I liked Jenny and Catherine though.

The Mojito down by the pool bar wasn’t good. Check with the Rumbar to see the way to properly make it

A bad Mojito is worse than no Mojito …

The fact that there wasn’t a free Honda CRV in my swag bag…one word: disappointed. I thought they were giving shit away.

Shelly Kramer taught me to play Scramble with Friends and then destroyed me 13 games and counting in a row…

I can’t play games like that …

She keeps inviting me to play more games …

I’m losing three games at one time …

It’s almost impressive …

Finding out that I qualified as a twitter stalker and that’s apparently bad thing

Turns out people don’t like Twitter stalkers …

Who knew?

Also $5 Club sodas are ridiculous …

I suppose there really weren’t that many bad things …

So I’m planning on going back next year …

After all, it’s in Laguna Niguel …

CALIFORNIA BITCHES!!!!

There ya go!

Sounds like fun – in a “I should totally get involved in that kind of stuff ’cause I like things like beaches, mansions, mojitos, and free stuff” kind of way.
Thanks for sharing – I live so vicariously through you. Seriously. Maybe I should get out more….

Ahh, Ritz Carlton, mojitos and Marinka. What a great weekend!

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it’s like for a blogger over 40, especially with no younger kids. I don’t know more than one really big blogger with kids old enough to drive. Thoughts?

    • Lynn
      May 8, 2012

There are plenty in their forty’s but mostly their early forties. Not too many older bloggers out there but I have met some great people … and some not so great people. Most of the big bloggers have little kids still…

Found out the Huff Post has an “over 50” section though …

In our conversations at ConvergeSouth and beyond, I don’t EVER remember telling you that was the way to handle Twitter… you just took that crap and ran with it ;) And, if I had been with you, we would have stalked the Dove boy down and washed his mouth out with…. yeah.. soap.

I just follow who i want also and i suppose she doesn’t have to explain it to everyone…it was just like “you’re stalking me so no”

      ok …

How are you doing by the way?

  12. Alexandra
    May 8, 2012

Sounds so beautiful, and Marinka: wonderful, wonderful person. Funny, kind, so giving. She’s good people.

I read the comments above on twitter stalker but I still don’t get it.

If you ask someone to follow you, that’s a twitter stalker, is that right?

    • Lynn
      May 8, 2012

I guess…i was joking around about YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW ME BACK and they told me i was “stalking” them and that made them uncomfortable. whatever, it’s totally ridiculous
