This blog is not for the light-hearted or easily offended. If either one of those descriptions applies to you, i would suggest you start drinking before you read this blog. A sense of humor is suggested. If you don't have one that sucks for you … find one and get a life!
Is it just me or are people ruder than they used to be?
That’s not a rhetorical question; it’s a real one.
Case in point:
I was in spinning and in the new class that I take you need to sign up for a bike ahead of time. (Technically this was true of the old one too but I just never did and then I got disgusted when people took my bike.)
So since it’s VERY important to me that I be in front of the fan I sign up for bike 9 or bike 10. I try not to sign up too, too early because I seem to keep hurting myself and I don’t want to have to pay a fee for backing out at the last minute.
That’s a completely different story: the story of me falling apart one joint at a time. And by joint I DON’T mean the pleasurable smoking kind; I mean the connecters between all my long bones kind.
Anyways, back to the story.
So lately bike 9 has been full and I’ve gotten bike 10. As it turns out the reason bike 9 is full is that the same person has been signing up for bike 9. Guess she likes that bike.
So other than the fact that my heart rate monitor keeps picking up her heart rate (this drives me nuts too also by the way but I’m not really bitching about the fact that her heart must be stronger then mine) she does something else that I think is quite rude.
At the end of the class we stretch (always stretch people, always STRETCH!!) and one of the stretches is to grab your towel, put your hands above your head and lean left and then lean right. Or sometimes I suppose it’s lean right and then lean left. No matter.
So last week she leans right (I’m to the right) and practically shoves her towel into my body despite the fact that I’m also leaning right.
I was all like “what the fuck” but I moved on with my life because I’m sort of an adult.
Well the next time we spun there she was leaning right … I mean seriously leaning right into my space. Now these bikes are pretty near each other but I don’t organize the spin studio and somehow I manage to stretch without shoving my smelly towel into anyone’s face and I don’t understand why she can’t.
Today guess what? That’s right: in my face AGAIN.
I’m debating whether I should confront her but mostly I wonder at people nowadays who don’t seem to give a shit about anyone but himself or herself.
It happens everywhere. I sometimes wonder what’s happening to human beings and then I realize “oh yeah, we all suck.”
So what do you guys think? Are people getting ruder in your area too or should I just quit spinning?
