It’s the little things that we take for granted ya know? Case in point:

While the plumber was here the other day looking at my kitchen sink faucet I had them check on this strange little situation going on.  Ever since I got a new hot water heater last fall, I noticed that when I turned on the cold water it was warm and sometimes it was even a bit hot.

I had Chris (yeah, I’m on a first name basis with my plumber because I’ve had so many issues) check it out and he informed me that the seal for the hot water needed replacing (of course it did) and that was causing the hot water to seep into the cold water hence hot water out of the cold water faucet.

All this time, 10 years in fact, I never really gave a thought to all the little things that need to go on to live your life.  You really never notice until they go wrong.

Now I’m having that seal replaced because as you know, my house is falling apart one little thing at a time.  It’s just funny because when things are going smoothly you just don’t even notice.

In other news, Andie and I have been cooking together which I think is shocking Andie because I almost never cook and I’m pretty sure that she thought that I didn’t know how to cook.  Newsflash, I do know how to cook but I just don’t really enjoy cooking.

The last few meals cooking with Andie have been enjoyable though.  We bought a Cooking Light book that is “meals in minutes” or in other words, meals that you can make in 30 minutes or less.

We bought pork tenderloin at Fresh Market and apparently there are 2 in a pack so we’ve made 2 pork meals.

The first was pork tenderloin in an orange/apricot sauce that was both delicious and easy.  The second was port tenderloin Szechwan with Soba noodles and that was really easy and yummy (albeit a bit spicy) as well.

It’s really much more fun to cook with a partner and apparently I should have had the kids cooking with me all along.  Of course, they would have had to drop out of school, sports and their other activities but still, we would have had home cooked meals.

Andie and I also had a Ms. Pacman tournament yesterday (we have a machine) and I finally got the high score.  Of course, then Andie spent the afternoon trying to beat it and she FINALLY did so today, I have to go raise it again.  I can see this is going to be a trying summer between the cooking and Ms. Pacman.

I’ll keep you guys updated later.  I know this was boring but it’s gray and rainy outside and what the hell do you want from me?
