This blog is not for the light-hearted or easily offended. If either one of those descriptions applies to you, i would suggest you start drinking before you read this blog. A sense of humor is suggested. If you don't have one that sucks for you … find one and get a life!
It’s 9:46 and I have approximately 10 minutes to write a post. That’s because I usually get Keely downstairs around 10:00 AM. I’ll give you a little update about Keely while I’m at it.
She’s doing much, much better. No more problems with her Pulmonary Embolism except she has to stay on Coumadin for at least 6 months. She, of course, hates this because you can’t drink on Coumadin. For a 22 year old, that is simply unacceptable but she’ll do it I’m sure.
Beyond that last week we saw the Pulmonologist who gave her an all-clear and a Hematologist who made her give up 20 vials of blood. She then sat around the rest of the day and complained about people trying to take all her blood. They are testing for various and sundry blood disorders since apparently between the femoral thing and the PE they’re suspicious. That stuff isn’t supposed to happen to 22 year olds.
She has started rehab and today she wants to start swimming laps, which is exciting. She hasn’t been able to do much being that she’s been on crutches and just starting her rehab but she WILL be able to swim. Luckily we have a pool so she’ll swim there. Yesterday was spent with me running back and forth to the sporting goods store getting swimsuits, goggles, caps and the like.
Hopefully that’ll work out. She is being good as gold and for the most part doesn’t really complain. It’s just that our stairs are wood and they’re steep so we really can’t let her come down without a spotter. That’s what I do. I walk down backwards in front of her to make sure she doesn’t tumble. At nighttime, Daniel takes her upstairs so that aspect is all-good.
Beyond that, Keely and I have started working on a “creative” project that I can’t really talk about but I’m pretty excited about it. She’s really, really organized so it’s conceivable we’ll actually get something accomplished. Who knows?
It’s been hot and we have spent time outside destroying our skin working on our tan so that takes some time.
Yesterday Daniel was washing Keely’s car (she will be able to drive soon) and discovered that both her car and Andie’s car had expired registration and tags. I found that strange because the same thing happened to Daniel, Kevin and my car recently too.
Apparently, somebody around here doesn’t have their shit together at all. I’m looking for that person now. Andie is still down in New Orleans and has had a tough week so I’ve spent hours on the phone with her being a long distance mother. I find that it’s actually tougher because I can’t hug her and everyone knows that sometimes you just need a “hug from your mom” to make things better.
Life continues to roll along. My dog had a checkup and he’s still dying and actually he’s got a hyperactive thyroid so he’s losing weight. I, meanwhile, am gaining weight so it kind of pisses me off.
Hope all is well with you and someday, somehow I’ll get back to funny and interesting posts. For my sake as well as yours.
