In which i’m already sick of Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades

As hard as it is to turn a good movie into a book, it must be even more difficult to turn a shitty book into a movie.  That’s certainly going to be the case with Fifty Shades of Grey so I wish they would quit talking about it.

Let’s face it.  If you’re a fan of decent writing then Fifty Shades of Grey was akin to listening to scratching on a chalkboard.  The only interesting things about the book (I suppose books since there were 3 of them), was that it got people talking about sex, kinky sex at that, as a conversation.

I found it amusing the people who were willing to discuss such “taboo” subjects in the open; people you never would have expected.  Of course, the downside was thinking about certain people thinking about sex.  That really hurt my stomach but I digress.  So all of a sudden people discovered that other people have sex and not “normal” sex but imaginative and fun (and sometimes disgusting … let’s be honest) sex and it was a big deal.

People also learned about “fan fiction” in a really terrible way in the sense that there is a LOT of well-written, compelling fan-fiction but this wasn’t some of it.  So now people think that all fan-fiction is poorly written and smutty and that’s not true.

Anyways, so people are thinking and talking about sex and they decide to make a movie of it.  Now I have seen porn but I usually don’t go see it with hundreds of other people in a movie theatre and very frankly, the idea of doing so isn’t something that I would want to entertain.

I can’t imagine the screenplay would be well written and considering that they couldn’t even find any decent actors to play the parts that doesn’t seem like a good omen.  Finally they found some half-assed actors to play it and seriously, they put them on the cover of Entertainment Weekly like most of us care.

Do you even know anybody who will go see this movie? I mean, reading the book and admitting you read the book is one thing. That’s a novelty that many people would try but how many of these middle-aged women who recently learned about sex it would appear are going to go to the theater?

Are they going with their spouses or significant others? Or are they going to go with each other, which I can’t even begin to imagine?

I certainly have no answers but I will say that I’m already sick of hearing about it and they haven’t even started the damn filming yet so I suppose I’ll just spend the next year just puking up a bit in my throat when the entire thing is mentioned.

I’m certainly not going to see it, are you? I’d be curious what you have to say about the subject.

LOL, well, the prude over here did not read the books …
The idea of it just makes me go eewww … I don’t get the domination side of it … or the fear aspect.
I did see Magic Mike with girlfriends, and had to have the penis pump scene explained – lol.

The Mister and I have some bills that we’d like to catch up on but I wouldn’t sit through that movie if you gave me a million bucks. No way, no how ~ no joke.

Did not read the books, but did read and excerpt… and I just didn’t get it…. I didn’t get how anyone could read such a slaughtering of the English language, or how this woman made a bajillion dollars … Bizarre! When it comes to filming the movie, I don’t know how you hire the respectable directors, producers, back end to even work on this. Obviously Universal picked it up thinking it would make bank, and it will be interesting to see how it does. I am betting some very creative marketing… No desire to see it. But very curious to see how it does…

I have not read “50 shades” and will not see the movie. If I want to read something sexy just for the sake of reading something sexy, I’ll find a novel by Liz Carlyle, who can actually write. And if I want to SEE something sexy I will just tell the DH to meet me in the bedroom. ;-)
