In which i’m distracted

Distracted

I love having my kid’s home.  I really do but it completely screws up my routine for this blog.  That sounds weird but it’s true. I actually have a bit of a routine when it comes to this blog.  As I approach the one-year mark, I realize that somehow this blogging shit has become PART of my life.

I won’t bore you with my entire morning routine although it involves dogs, protein milkshakes and coffee, but it also includes me sending the first of many (there I said it, I’m an over tweeter) links to my post out.  I tend to make my chocolate (of course it’s chocolate) milkshake and then repair to my office to check shit out.  I check my emails, make sure my blog posted, submit my post to Stumbleupon where NOBODY ever stumbles upon it and then I tweet out my links.

Then I start drinking coffee, go work out, and then come back home.  By this point I’m usually ready to write.  That’s because in a PERFECT world, I’m alone in my office with just my dog for company.  In the summer however, that routine doesn’t hold true.

I can hear Daniel in the kitchen with some friends who spent the night and Andie, although she’s usually not up this early, certainly makes her presence known when she is up.  That’s all well and good but I really need to be alone to write.  All those distractions seem to DISTRACT ME!

Normally, I’ve thought up about 10 different things to write about while I’m in my class and during the drive home, I’m desperately trying not to forget them. Unfortunately today, Kevin called me and now I can’t remember a damn thing.  I couldn’t even remember the reason he was returning the call in the first place.

Kevin:             I’m returning your call.

Lynn:              OK

Kevin:             Why did you call me?

Lynn:              I have no idea

Kevin:             Was it important?

Lynn:              Which part of  “I have no idea was confusing?”

Kevin:             Well, I was waiting for an important call.  That’s why I couldn’t talk.

Lynn:              I get that.

Kevin:             So what did you want?

Lynn:              Ummm…did I mention that I have NO IDEA?

So yeah, I have a terrible habit of forgetting everything and then even when I do remember stuff, I screw it up.  For example, we’ve been talking about getting the Directors Cut of Lord of the Rings for a VERY LONG TIME.  The other day Andie asked whether I had ordered it yet and of course, I hadn’t.

So, instead of getting a lot of shit for it I got on Amazon and ordered the extended version of LOTR.  I got it via FedEx so we could watch it on Wednesday.  So, of course when I opened the box on Wednesday I realized that I FORGOT to make sure it’s Blu Ray.  This shit isn’t going to work.  After all, I already have the regular version AND the BLUE RAY version and Kevin will kill me if I keep the regular extended version.

What did I do?  I did what anybody would do in this situation.  I scrambled.  Back on Amazon I went and promptly ordered the Extended BLU RAY version and now, I will simply return the original version.  Clean up complete!  Of course Andie, being the hateful child that she is, pointed out that I certainly WASTE a lot of money in shipping charges cleaning up my own messes.

And why did I have children?  I’m really not sure.  I’m also POSITIVE that when I sat down here today that this wasn’t what I planned on writing about.

See what I mean about distractions?

Oh well, you’re stuck with this post now.  Perhaps after another few cups of Java I’ll think of another topic … or… maybe just the ten topics I had already planned on writing.  Whatever they were.

I just left a comment and it seems to have disappearted. Trying another one. In case we don’t find the first one, I already forgot what I said, but I think it had something to do with distractions.

Do you know what screws up your blog routine big time? Having two cute cats that were a BIRTHDAY present and one cat biting off the other cat’s tail and then the first cat running around your house, turning what used to be a pristine oasis into Chucky’s palace. So I’m a bit behind on my reading, Lynn…

I’m off to your next post now :)

P.S. Don’t you think LOTR was long enough the way it was before the director decided to add an extra 9 (oh excuse me, nine) hours?

Yes, no shit. It’s not a great way to spend your holiday, I tell you. If you’re such a fan of LOTR, I’m sure you’ll like the Hobbit (December 2012).
