In which it’s all coming along

So people, you’re probably wondering “what ever came of the furniture company coming to look at Lynn’s art?” or that’s what you should be wondering.

Great news! I’m going to tell you.

They walked in and I had all my paintings spread around everywhere. They told me that they weren’t interested in any “red” paintings, which ruled out a ton of my paintings. They also told me they were interested in color (isn’t red a color?) and I thought that was perfect because basically color is all I do.

Long story short, they ended up wanting 11 paintings including one that wasn’t even either finished (in my opinion) or dry (that’s just a fact.) It’s 48×48 and I have a fan on it right now trying to get it dry by April 11th.

At any rate, they took MOST of my best paintings, which is great but left me in a bit of a panic for my own booth. However, Marta Mitchell a good friend and a designer assured me that I have plenty of great paintings left but that I’m just biased since they took my best one.

It’s good exposure and they’ll have a lot more customers than I will and they’re letting me put up price tags, my website link and my phone number so hopefully something will get sold.

Also, they’re coming to pick them up so I don’t have to schlepp them to High Point. This may seem like no big deal to you guys but I don’t have a car that will fit anything that’s 4’ wide in it.

So that’s the deal with that. I have no clue whether anything will sell or not and hopefully I won’t end up having to PAY people to take them off my hands.

Also, I got my SQUARE and it’s so much fun. What is a square? It’s a device that hooks to your phone to take credit cards and it’s easy to use. I told Andie I was going to start billing her for coming home and she said, “no problem, I won’t come” but I was just excited to use my SQUARE!!!

In other news, I entered an art competition in New York which is juried and it doesn’t have to have your “resume” to it’s blind to whether you’re famous or not. With my luck, I’ll win but I will have sold those paintings at the furniture market so I won’t be in the show.

But I didn’t wasn’t to “not enter” on the chance that the paintings will sell and I didn’t want to “not sell the paintings at the market” because the odds of me winning are so slim.

Dilemma huh? Anyways, I’m doing both and probably won’t win or sell any. Hope not though.

Beyond that I’m NOT going to rant about politics even though it’s both discouraging and depressing.

Also, that Michael Phelps commercial … that’s my next blog post!

See ya

I find it funny that the store didn’t want any red paintings because usually the art is the splash of colour in the room. Good luck with the contest.
