This blog is not for the light-hearted or easily offended. If either one of those descriptions applies to you, i would suggest you start drinking before you read this blog. A sense of humor is suggested. If you don't have one that sucks for you … find one and get a life!
I suppose that I haven’t really mentioned Keely in a while and I owe the people who have been following her story a bit of an update. For those new to the situation, you can read this ORIGINAL post about Keely’s problems. Then THIS post will show you what she’s been up against.
For those who have been following here’s where we’re at:
Keely had her surgery on May 21st (I should say she had her TWO surgeries that day I suppose) and besides the setback because of the pulmonary embolism she’s been doing fine.
She’s still on Coumadin
We finally got that stabilized.
She’s down to one crutch.
They were moving a bit fast in Physical Therapy so her doctor slowed that down.
She has a new doctor at Duke.
His name is Dr. Brigman
Her other doctor is no longer at Duke
We loved her and we miss her
Keely is now allowed to start doing light workouts
Like recumbent bike or swimming
She can’t run … or do Stairmaster
In fact, she can never do that stuff again
But that’s ok
She’s excited to be able to do stuff on her own again
Like drive
… or fix her own breakfast
… or carry her own drinks
You know, normal stuff
She has a checkup for her femoral artery on September 7th
Then it’s only every 6 months so that’s good
She has a CT Scan and appointment on October 3rd for her hip
If that’s good she can get on with her life
Which she wants to do?
In the mean time she is writing a book
And some other projects that we are working on together
As it turns out we’re a good writing team
Because I’m impulsive and creative
And she’s organized and creative
So that’s been fun
Although she sometimes scolds me
But that’s ok. I’ve never had someone keep me focused before
It’s kinda awesome
When she’s released from this level of care she is probably going to move
Probably to Los Angeles
She wants to be a writer
Probably for TV
So she’s looking for a writing assistant job
Or she will be when she can actually go interview first
In the meantime, she’s writing
And hopefully networking
I’m also taking her to Atlanta on Labor Day
To Dragon*Con
We’re excited
It should be an adventure
We’ll take pictures
So there you are. If you, or anyone you know, is affiliated with show business in LA and you want to help Keely please let us know. I’m hoping to gather connections that Keely can contact out there. I’m staying here. You know, in North Carolina.
See ya,
Lynn
I’m glad she’s doing well! I’m guessing after all that being at a point to do light workouts must feel pretty great.
