This blog is not for the light-hearted or easily offended. If either one of those descriptions applies to you, i would suggest you start drinking before you read this blog. A sense of humor is suggested. If you don't have one that sucks for you … find one and get a life!
The downside of going to bed at 8:00 PM is that you wake up at 4:00 AM. Boy was I NOT HAPPY. I did manage to doze off a bit more but by 6:30 AM I decided to get up, get Starbucks and I walked down to the new place to build the drawers. Keely was only sticking around her apartment until 9:00 AM and then she was leaving me the car, the old apartment, the new apartment and the movers.
I managed to build 4 out of the six drawers before I Ubered over to her place. She took off and then the movers and I went to the new place. All seemed well until I ran into a snag. You see the reason I had bought storage under the bed was because when I bought the goddamn bed from IKEA two years ago they somehow forgot the legs so what Keely had was a box spring, mattress and headboard all sitting on the floor. It sucked but was never a problem before but now it was.
The plan was to simply plop that shit on the bed platform I’d killed myself building BUT it turns out the stupid box spring didn’t fit. Why didn’t it fit? Because there was a shelf built onto the boxspring to support the headboard that’s why. Fucking IKEA!!! What the hell was I supposed to do now?
I asked the movers to dump the old boxspring and just put the mattress on top of the platform. All the other crap goes smoothly and they even take all my old boxes, take the old boxspring and tape up the incorrectly delivered box, which weighed too much to lift and put that outside the apartment. (by the way, it’s still there) All in all a great success except Ali, the roommate ends up landing at 10:30 AM instead of 12:00 noon and I had stuff all over her room!
So I quickly move all that in Keely’s room, finish the drawers and then voila! Move accomplished.
At this point I’m there, Ali’s there, Keely’s at work and other then Keely’s bedroom there’s not one thing in the apartment except the TV and paintings I had shipped. Ali, who I have met for all of one second, and I go shopping for furniture immediately.
Ali is having some stuff shipped but as of yet she has one suitcase full of stuff and nothing else for her room. She’s having an air mattress shipped out to arrive that day and hopefully it will be there before bedtime.
I figure we will go to this store I found and buy everything meaning a living and dining room. We get the store and no couch or at least not the couch we need. 10 stores later I’m suicidal. I either hate the stuff or the sectional is right facing and not left or it’s too expensive or it’ll take weeks to get. I’m getting annoyed and freaked out and that’s not even the hardest thing. I can’t find a media unit that is short enough for the space.
I had never really considered that I wouldn’t find all this stuff and meanwhile I’m running around with my new best friend, Keely’s roomie who by the way, hasn’t seen Keely I over two years either. I now know Ali better then Keely at this point! hahahahaha.
Finally we found a couch, which could be delivered Friday, an end and coffee table on sale and a media cabinet. Thank god because the cable guy is coming Friday. Eventually Keely gets off work and she, Ali and I go get dinner, which is great because I’m starving. Basically two days in a row I ate oatmeal for breakfast and then dinner a million hours later.
Will this apartment work? Will I die? Stay tuned for more!!!
