In which she was in danger?

Sometimes my kids do things that are either so stupid or so funny that I just have to share them.  This is one of those times.

A little background here.  Keely is a senior at Duke University and she’s taking a course in screenwriting.  She was given an assignment and texted me for “ideas” for the subject of her paper.

If you’ve read this blog for a long time I once wrote a post entitled “In which Keely was held up at gunpoint.”  I’ve also written about her medical problems which you can read about here.

At any rate, I was just chilling at home when I received the following text:

I just started laughing because I couldn’t actually believe it.  This kid couldn’t even remember when she had been in “mortal” danger.  I mean she had a GUN held to her head.

After I told her unbelievable she explained that in her head she considered it more of a “funny story!”  A funny story?  I mean, it IS a funny story.  Not the gunpoint part but the way that she reacted part.  If you want details of that you can read the post but really Keely

Oh Keely!  Never a dull moment!

Oh my GOD. Because they yogurt might have melted. And then she couldn’t remember a time when she was in danger. The psych prof isn’t even going to believe this. She has to let you (i.e. us) know how this essay turns out.

Hi Lynn! I know I’ve been AWOL and you’ve probably been very concerned…just like Keely was about the melting yogurt. Let me just make a few statements here:
    1. Seriously, Keely? It’s a little known fact that, while it wasn’t their fault, a gun to the head directly entitles you to free yogurt.
    B. Manager guy: ALWAYS GIVE UP THE MONEY!! NO MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY IS INVOLVED. Seriously, you will tell a robber “NO!” when he demands money, but you won’t tell a customer “NO!” when she refuses your free yogurt after having played the very sketchy role of hostage in your recent robbery? Take a lesson from the Kit Kat company and give me a break.
    3. I really have nothing else to say, but I did say that I was going to make a “few” statements and a “few” is at least 3, so I was kinda obligated.

At least she has a sense of humor about it all. I’d probably still be having night terrors.
