In which the fishie environment suffered

Poor, poor Hercules and Gilgamesh having to put up with a horrible parent like Andie.  You see, last week I told Andie that the fish tank was getting cloudy and probably needed changing.  I mean, I KNOW they’ve been staying with me for a very long time but still, Andie considers them her fish.

So, the water is cloudy and the water level is getting lower (please don’t make me explain the evaporation cycle to you guys) and the world was looking grim for poor Gil and Herc.  This morning I walked in to feed the fish (and actually write a post) and there was an environmental crisis going on in the fish tank.

Me:                  Andie, the fish tank is a disaster

Andie:             how so?

Me:                  there are plants floating on the surface

Andie:             take them out

Me:                  Andie, two out of four plants are floating on the surface

Andie:             oh my god, it’s like if one hemisphere was destroyed by an asteroid

Me:                  Gil and Herc couldn’t even get to the food on the surface

Andie:             they could make a film out of this

Me:                  I had to stick my hand in the water to get the plants out

Andie:             it’s an environmental disaster

Me:                  now my hand stinks like fish food

Andie:             it sounds awful…was it traumatic

Me:                  I hate you Andie … and so do your fish

Andie:             you’re so dramatic mom

And so people, I am now the sole living human in this household who truly cares for these poor little fishies.  Actually, Gil is quite large but that’s not the point.  The point is that they need their water changed and I hate that!!!

By the way, I asked Andie to look at this conversation and she refused therefore when it’s completely inaccurate she only has herself to blame.

Just saying …

funny! sorry about the environmental crisis in the tank, but I know how it feels! we lost all our fish to an unknown assailant/disease — and everyone accused me of fish murder! I posted about it so if you’re curious…it’s called How His “Gift” Ended Up in a Glacial Graveyard, Amid Accusations of MURDER…

There is only one thing for it Lynn. You are going to have to adopt the fish permanently and declare Andie a neglectful parent. Or maybe Andie already considers you their long term foster parent….

Baahaha, I always give my kids the opportunity to rebut what I’ve written, but they usually just roll their eyes.

My son brought home a fish from a county fair and it lived for THREE YEARS. Mr. Pink. Those things are supposed to die in the car on the way home.
