In which they brought their dogs

rant

Can I just rant for a minute here? Don’t bother answering because you know that OF COURSE I CAN.

So the other day I had a dentist appointment.  I arrive a few minutes early for the appointment and do the standard check in yada, yada, yada.

There’s an old guy sitting on the couch and this is a small waiting room so there’s a couch and 3 chairs.

While I’m checking in this lady comes in with her two dogs. I think they’re some sort of poodle but they’re what I’d refer to as “yappy dogs.”  She proceeds to sit with the guy on the couch and I gather they’re together.
Then she gets her dogs and puts them on the couch with them.

I couldn’t believe it.  First I was surprised she was hanging with them inside the waiting room anyways but then she put them on the furniture.

What if the next person who sat there didn’t like dogs?

What if the dogs smelled?

What if people were allergic to dogs … and yes, I know poodles are supposedly hypoallergenic but still.

What is it coming to when people can just plop their dogs up anywhere?

I was so annoyed and the receptionist asked if she should make a separate appointment for this woman since she needed to stay out in the waiting room to care for the dogs.

I was flabbergasted.  How difficult is it to leave the two animals at home while you and your husband go to the dentist.

At any rate, it really annoyed me that she had the dogs up on the furniture.

Wouldn’t you know that I left my wallet out there in the waiting room and when I was paying I realized it. I went out there to retrieve it and the woman said she had been keeping her eye on it and then I had to THANK HER which meant that I could not longer be thinking negatively about her which really pissed me off too!!

Well anyways, I am against all this “bringing the animals everywhere” business and I think it’s just rude and annoying.

How about y’all? Do you agree? Disagree?  Huh? Hello? Bueller?

I’m not a dog lover, sorry.
I can tolerate them when I have to, but one sniff to my nether regions and I’m DONE!!!!

I am a dog lover, but there is a place for pets and it isn’t in the dentist’s office, nor is it my favorite watering hole. If the weather is agreeable leave them in the car, if it isn’t leave them home.

Amen Sister friend! Drives me banananannaananannaas! Here in So Cal, it is out of control. Everywhere you go. Nordstrom? Sure…bring your dog in! NOOOOOOO! Especially a barking dog. A barking dog in Nordstrom! Why people can’t leave them at home is beyond me. I have two rescues… they don’t come with me, if I have to get out of the car. If I am picking up the kids, they can come for the ride. But honest to Pete! I don’t care how small, how cute, how human…etc… They don’t belong in shopping centers or doctors offices. And they are not always small. No joke… One time saw a dog over 100 pounds sniffing out the shoes at the department store. NOOOO! Rant on!

I don’t understand. It is out of control in California. I was shocked but it’s not very typical around here. But on the furniture?? WTF?

Los Angeles is infested with portable dogs. 9 out of 10 of them are almost completely untrained from the look of things. They don’t have leash skills, they don’t have social skills, they yap, they snap, they poop and pee anywhere and of course the entitled idiots carrying them around never clean up after them.

If I were at the dentist’s office and someone brought in their porta-mutt, I would complain. That is supposed to be a sanitary environment dammit.
