In which we begin our epic journey

cargastank

Today, I begin an EPIC journey across America.  I hadn’t planned on this.  In fact, I didn’t actually want to do this but it made the most sense both logistically and financially.

So, what does that mean to you peeps?

First, I will probably die during the drive.  If sitting in a car for 4 days doesn’t kill me then Keely’s singing probably will.  Have I ever told you about that?  Keely sings at the top of her lungs, off key and has possibly the worst taste in music in the world.  Basically I’ll still be listening to Britney BITCH!!

Second, I am going to try to keep a log of funny things that were said or done but I actually get carsick when I’m not driving so who knows how that will go.  I will certainly attempt to write out whatever happens and TRUST ME, something will happen but once again, no promises.

But, it is possible that there will be days that I’m too tired or whatever to post.  I am going to have some repeat posts or whatnot ready to go (or not … that’s my plan as I write this on the 8th but who knows what will actually occur) so hopefully something will be posted but as I said, no promises.

What I can promise is that IF something happens I will write about it.  Or maybe I’ll even make Keely write about it.  After all, she will totally owe me for taking one for the team.

Here’s the game plan.  Drop off the dog at 7 am on Monday, the 14th and go.  The only problem is that Keely is nocturnal and I’m normal so getting her up and moving may well be difficult.  I want to get a lot of mileage behind us on day 1 so that we can get up and possibly work out in the mornings on the other days.

The reason is that I’ve already gained weight over the holidays and I can’t imagine my fitness will improve during a 3000-mile road trip.

Then when we get to Hollywood (aka Keelywood) we will be looking at apartments and getting furnishings and whatnot so we will be busy.  Thank god the way home is on an airplane.  I’ve decided to have a positive attitude that the trip will be fun so hopefully that will turn out to be true.

So, I just wanted to let you know what I’ll be up to.  Hope you don’t get bored and leave me

Have a great trip! My mom and I did this about 10/11 years ago from Jacksonville, Florida to San Diego, CA. The drive was a straight shot on I-10 for 3 days.. We missed the entrance to I-10 within being on the road 10 minutes the first day!! We laughed so hard and didn’t tell my dad for a couple years.. He would have thought we were the biggest airheads!

Have a great time, you will create great memories.

Good luck! I hope the trip is smooth and not unnecessarily memorable.

I did this with my mom so long ago. It took us 2-1/2 days to get from SF, CA to Syracuse, NY, whereupon I dropped her off at the airport. Which saved both of our lives. Good luck!

I cannot even imagine that. That’s a lot of hours a day but Keely and I are having a great time
