In which we had a visit

cousins

Hey there peeps! What’s up? Well I’ve had a pretty good week around here. I don’t know if I told you but when I was on the way up to Vermont a few weeks ago I got a call from my cousin Susie telling me that she was coming to North Carolina with her two sisters.

I grew up with my cousins but then they moved away from North Carolina when I was in high school. Well actually, they moved away when I was younger but then they moved back. At any rate, I grew up with them and we were pretty close. In fact, that’s who I go see each year in Maine (where some of them still live) and you may remember that I visited my cousin Laurie in London a few times.

They haven’t all been down here together since my dad died back in 1998 so you can imagine my surprise that the three of them were coming down. As it turns out, for Susie’s 50th birthday they were doing a trip “down memory lane.” They were all flying into Washington, DC and meeting up. Laurie was coming in from London, Robin from Nashville and Susie from Maine. Then they were going to drive through Lexington, Virginia (where they lived), down the Blue Ridge Parkway to Asheville and eventually come to Greensboro.

I figured since this was a historic occasion I should have my brothers over for an early birthday celebration and I think it was the first time we were all together in Greensboro having a meal since we were kids.

It was loads of fun and even though I see them yearly up in Maine it made us reminisce about our childhood. I would highly recommend a reunion of that magnitude to all cousins who grew up together.
Beyond that things seems to be going ok. The weather has been delightful around here and I’ve been trying to paint quite a bit. Andie’s test is over so things are pretty chill down in Durham and Daniel’s job search seems to be going well. He’s actually being flown to Seattle next week even though I think that’s pretty damn far away from here.

My cousins did tell me that Kevin was too skinny as if that’s MY fault. He’s an adult, perhaps he should eat more. We should all have such problems right???

In other business as usual news my kitten is crazy, Harris Teeter once again pissed me off and I pretty much need to lose some weight.

Well, that’s all for now because basically I’m boring. Perhaps I always have been; I don’t know.

It is always good to see family on happy occasions. Usually family only gets together for funerals so birthdays are happy visits.
