In which we lost our cat

IMG_2761

Guys, I’m soooo sorry that I haven’t written lately but honestly I’m in a crap mood and things have been shit.

I can’t go into it all but I’ll give you a brief synopsis.

We’re mad at Duke Med School for being such an asshole to my daughter because she did something that showed incredible integrity and instead of lauding her for it (as they should have and we, and EVERYONE WE KNOW has, they basically jumped to conclusions and castigated her for it.)

I can’t go into details but the end result is that she’s jaded, cynical and angry and therefore so are we. Sometimes I think that the administration of schools doesn’t give a shit about students and I guess that Duke, LIKE EVERY OTHER SCHOOL IN THE WORLD, talks a good game about caring but really their students are a commodity to bring in money and that’s about it.

Keely was also going through her first MAJOR ADULT decision are informed us that “adulating sucks” which is does. I mean, black and white decisions are easy but gray area decisions are tough. I did tell her that each one builds upon the last one and that eventually you get to know yourself better and therefore know what to do.

Also it’s hard to take a risk y’all!!

Daniel just graduated. The weekend was a blur of parties, anxiety and pride and very frankly, I’m glad it’s behind us.
Speaking of Daniel, apparently he’ll just beam himself to California like in Star Trek because the actual plans of getting there are minimal to nonexistent. I’m trying to stay calm and not get too involved but Kevin and I did resort to A LIST.

I mean it was driving us nuts!

And last, but certainly not least, the bestest little kitteny cat in the entire Universe disappeared last Saturday.

We were frantic with worry because she’s never done this before. We put out flyers, sent out emails and we got calls from all around. On Tuesday we even had a tracking dog in here and the dog went to where the calls came from.

And yet, one week later and no CINDER. We basically live in a zillion acres of woodland on a lake so it’s worse than a needle in a haystack.

Even the tracker guy said, “If she wants to come home she’ll come home.” Of course, he also said that cat’s “had a lousy sense of direction” so I don’t know.

It’s been sad and stressful and a crap time.

She was the GREATEST cat in the world and I’ve had a lot of cats. She actually was sort of like a dog so that made her the perfect combo.

She’s chipped but had no collar on beaus I was attaching this tracker thing I got but couldn’t get it to work.

ARGGGHHH…

So that’s my life. Hope it improves soon and I can write a fun post.

I hate when kitties go missing. When I was young, our cat went missing from a breeder and she was lost for a week. We were terrified that she was gone. Anyway, she popped up at the breeders and we brought her home. But now I’m so scared when Luna disappears into the forest and I can’t see her. I really, really hope she comes home.

You’ve got a lot on your plate. I hope Duke realizes that their being assholes thus giving your daughter her mojo back.
I’ll put my positive energy out there for the safe return of kitty cat (who looks exactly like my daughters cat).
Corny as it sounds — it can only get better.
