Sleepy Hollow — watch it on FOX

sleepy hollow cast

I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty excited about the Premier of Sleepy Hollow.  You see, unless you’ve been living in a cave (or you don’t read this blog) you would know that Keely is working on that show.  She has been terribly excited about it and the people she works with are so awesome so naturally, I’m hoping it’s a hit so she can continue working with them.

Kevin and I didn’t really know what to expect.  I had already read the pilot but Keely told me that significant changes had been made to it and she was right.  I figured that the plot was intriguing and I knew the two leads were attractive (understatement … I mean LOOK AT THEM) but I was thrilled to see that it was even better than I thought.

Kevin was excited the minute the show started with The Rolling Stones “Sympathy for the Devil.”  How can you go wrong setting the tone with a Stones song? I’m not going to recap the episode; those are all over the web.

What I am going to say is that it was filmed beautifully by Len Wisemen (Underworld) and was beautiful to watch.  Beyond that, there were enough surprises and clues set up that you’re intrigued and want to see even more.  For example, the show is set up to be sort of a cross between X-Files (the truth is out there) and National Treasure (where there are all sorts of clues from the past to sort through) therefore, you’re engaged trying to figure out what is happening.

Not only that but it’s set in Sleepy Hollow and they refer to Dobb’s Ferry where I lived for a summer so I know the area personally and I found that exciting. However, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know the area because it’s a pretty compelling concept.

Now, I may be biased because my daughter is working on the show but I thoroughly enjoyed it and it left me wanted more.  The leads have great chemistry and banter and the tone seemed just right.

It was a bit scarier than I normally watch (especially at the end) but that only served to make me want to find out what’s going to happen.  I saw some chatter on Twitter about the “plausibility” of all the things that happened and it’s true, you do need to suspend some of your disbelief but I think it’s worth it.

So, I just wanted to tell you guys to watch Sleepy Hollow.  I know there’s an encore performance on Fox on Friday and it’s also available free on iTunes so check it out.

I had already seen the trailer for the show a few months ago and was intrigued by it but I must say I became even more excited when I discovered I had a more personal connection through your blog. I enjoyed the show and will definitely tune in next week!
